ean Emeneya Mubiala Kwamambu (November 23, 1956 – February 13, 2014) was a Congolese singer best known as King Kester Emeneya.[1]
He was born in Kikwit within the Democratic Republic of the Congo. While a student of political science at the University of Lubumbashi in 1977, King Kester joined the band Viva La Musica. After achieving success with several popular songs, he became the most popular African singer in the 1980s and created his own band, called "Victoria Eleyson", on December 24, 1982.[2]
Emeneya Djo Kester was innovative with his music. He was the first central African musician to incorporate electronic instruments (synthesizers) in his album entitled Nzinzi which sold over 1 million copies. After years of success with populars songs, in 1993 he released his album Every Body distributed by Sonodisc. Every body was a big success internationally. In 1997, after a seven-year absence, King Kester returned to Congo. Nearly 80,000 people attended the first concert after his return, which was a record-setting feat according to the Congolese media. He has more than 1000 songs to his credit and has performed on five continents.
From 1991 until his death in Paris in 2014, King Kester Emeneya lived mostly in France with his family.[citation needed] Discography

Two brothers-frere sokis,Maxime soki vangu[1947] and Emile soki dianzeza[1954], formed a band that was a starting/stepping ground for many succesful musicians.probably if it were not for ORCHESTRA BELLA BELLA[formed 1969],musicians like;Nyboma mwandindo,Pepe kalle,Diblo dibala,Kanda bongo man,Shaba kahamba,dino vangu[not related] and papa wemba's Viva la musicawhich was sponsored by the brothers would not be anywhere in music chart.ealy band members of orch.bella bella were,jean roger ntente,billy barrel ngoma nzita,pierre bissikita,jean bosco bayaba, barly kalala tshiaba just to mention a few.around 1972 quarrels emerged between brothers and EMILE left to form BELLA MAMBO.Pepe kalle replaced him inorder to earn some cash to purchase instruments for his band EMPIRE BAKUBA.barely a year Emile abandoned bella mambo and rejoined his brother.together they created their own recording label-ALLE Y-FRERES SOKI releasing hits like bienvenue doudou and sentima.at sometime they also recorded with vercky's kiamuangwana VEVE LABEL.nicknamed the 'youth band',bella bella challenged big bands such as Tp ok jazz,Zaiko langalanga,Afrisa international etc.early 80's saw the entry of dennis kanda bongo man and diblo dibala in the band.after quarelling and eventual reuniting,it seems life and death had altogether decided their fate as the frere sokis died the same month and the same year only separated by a fortnight.may 4th 1990 and may 18th 1990.RIP FRERE SOKI'S.Your music will forever be your memoire.all their albums are @house of rhumba.
